Claude connector

Connect MyFinanceBook to Claude and ask about your income and spending in plain words, or import a bank statement by uploading it straight into the chat. It takes about a minute, and the connector is free on every plan.

Before you start

  • A MyFinanceBook account. Start free
  • A Claude account. Any plan works, Free included. On Team and Enterprise, an owner has to allow the connector first, under Organization settings → Connectors.
  • How many assistants you can connect at once depends on your MyFinanceBook plan; see Plans.

Connect it

From Claude's connector directory (recommended)

  1. Open MyFinanceBook in Claude's connector directory.
  2. Click Connect.
  3. Sign in to MyFinanceBook if asked, check what Claude will be able to do, and click Connect.
  4. You're back in Claude, and MyFinanceBook is connected.
Other ways to connect

Add it as a custom connector

Add to Claude

Opens Claude with the details already filled in, and the options it selects for you are the right ones - there is no need to change them. It will ask you to confirm the address before it connects - that is expected.

Or add it by hand

  1. In Claude, open Customize, then Connectors.
  2. Click Add, then Add custom connector.
  3. Paste the two values below, then click Add.
    MyFinanceBook
    https://mcp.myfinancebook.app
  4. Click Connect, sign in to MyFinanceBook, and approve the permissions you are shown.

Try asking

  • “How much did I spend on groceries last month?”
  • “What were my five biggest expenses in August?”
  • “Compare my income and expenses for the last three months.”
  • “How do I delete a category in MyFinanceBook?”
  • Attach a statement and say: “Import this into MyFinanceBook. Show me the rows first.”

Claude can add. It cannot alter.

Claude can read your ledger and add to it, but it has no way to change or delete anything already there, so a misunderstood request can't rewrite your history. Edits and deletions stay with you, in MyFinanceBook.

Your assistant can

  • Read your transactions and reports
  • Add transactions
  • Add a category

Only you can

  • Edit a transaction
  • Delete a transaction
  • Remove a category
  • Change a setting
  • Download your export

Importing a statement through Claude

Attach the PDF or CSV your bank exports and ask Claude to import it. Claude reads the file and shows you every row with a suggested category; nothing is saved until you confirm. A statement you've already imported is caught before anything is duplicated.

Importing through Claude is free and unlimited on every plan. It doesn't use your plan's imports.

The file itself goes to Claude under your own Claude account and its settings; MyFinanceBook receives only the rows you approve. How we handle your data

Permissions and disconnecting

When you connect, MyFinanceBook shows exactly what Claude will be able to do: read your transactions, categories and reports; read exchange rates; add transactions and create categories, so imports work; and see the email address you sign in with.

You can disconnect at any time from Connected apps in MyFinanceBook, and Claude loses access to your data straight away. You can also remove the connector in Claude.

If something doesn't work

  • Claude says it can't import, or its tools seem out of date. Disconnect MyFinanceBook in Claude, then disconnect it in Connected apps in MyFinanceBook too, and connect again from Claude. Claude then fetches the current tools.
  • The connection stops with a message about your plan's limit. Your plan allows a set number of connected assistants. Disconnect one you no longer use in Connected apps, or see the plans.
  • MyFinanceBook isn't available on your work Claude account. On Team and Enterprise, an owner has to allow it first.
