# MyFinanceBook

> MyFinanceBook is an income and expense tracker built from the bank statements you export, as PDF or CSV.

## How it works
- Upload one statement at a time, as a PDF or CSV exported from your bank. Every row is shown for review with a suggested category; nothing is saved until you confirm. Re-uploading a statement is detected before anything is duplicated.
- To extract the rows, the statement is sent to Anthropic's API under a business agreement. The file is not stored, and Anthropic's terms don't allow it to train on it. Transactions can also be entered by hand.
- Ledgers can be kept in 13 currencies; rows in other currencies are converted at the rate for each transaction's own date.
- A transaction can be assigned to one of your accounts – a bank account or card known by its last few characters, cash, or just a name – or left unassigned. Transfers between your own accounts, cash withdrawals and savings top-ups belong in one transfer category that totals leave out; the statement import suggests it for those rows, and you can change it. Cash purchases count only when entered by hand.

## Privacy
- No bank login, no Open Banking link, no aggregator. Your MyFinanceBook account is an email address, a currency and a time zone – no name, address or phone.
- Your data (profile, categories, accounts, transactions and imported statements) exports as a zip of CSV files, and the account can be deleted outright, both self-service.

## The Claude connector
- MyFinanceBook is listed in Claude's connector directory (https://claude.ai/directory/myfinancebook), or add https://mcp.myfinancebook.app as a custom connector. It works with free Claude plans. Setup guide: [Claude connector](https://myfinancebook.app/claude-connector)
- A connected assistant can read transactions and add new ones. It cannot edit or delete them, change settings or reach the export: no such tool exists.

## Plans
- Free forever: the ledger, reports, CSV export and the Claude connector, plus a one-time welcome credit.
- Paid plans (Base and Pro) add monthly statement imports and questions to the built-in assistant.
- Not financial, investment or tax advice. Budgets and savings goals are not available yet.
